Generally speaking, the step mainly appears on the outer wall of the curved root canal. The M3-preformed step removal file is precurved at 2 ~ 3 mm of the root tip. The curved file tip faces the opposite root canal wall of the step, and the rubber label with a scale indicates the prebending direction of the file tip.
When resistance is encountered during the dredging process, the file is slightly withdrawn, rotated, changed in a different direction, and explored to the root again. Keep repeating this until you cross the steps. If this is still unsuccessful, the upper end of the root canal should be further opened and the root canal should be unclog by re-using the M3-preformed step file after extensive flushing.
Once the file tip has crossed the step, the file tip should be kept at the root of the step, and the step should be eliminated by short filing and small amplitude lifting up and down. Lubricants and plenty of washing should be used to prevent root canal obstruction.
When the tip of the file can move freely, gradually increase the lifting amplitude until the file can freely enter the root canal. In the same manner, large instruments are gradually used to maintain access, and the amplitude of filing is increased until the step is eliminated and the file slides freely through the root canal. Keep the working length of the root canal unchanged throughout the process, otherwise it may expand the steps or create new steps. When the steps in the root canal are not completely eliminated, the tooth tip inserted into the main root canal will be blocked by the steps, and it is difficult to reach the working length. The main teether tip can be pre-bent and the tip soaked in 70% isopropanol for a few seconds to increase the hardness of the teether tip. When placed in the root canal, the bending direction is toward the main root canal on the opposite side of the step. It is recommended to use the hot glue vertical pressure filling technology, which can fill the irregular area of the root tip step with the fluidity of the hot glue.
